This is a simple support page for the Azureus Autocat plugin (linked on the Azureus page itself at this location).
I’ve discontinued the mailbox that was receiving support requests, because of excessive spam, so I’d prefer that you place support requests in the comments on this page. I should warn you, however, that the plugin does what I want it to at the moment, so I’m a bit slow to add new features. Which is not to say I won’t, just… well, I’ve been very, very lazy for the last year.
The plugin itself can also be downloaded here:

## Version History
* 0.1 - initial release
- Matched regular expressions to torrent file names
* 1.0.0 - The good one
- Rewrote the whole thing from scratch (well, almost)
- New config file format (backwards compatible, so far)
- Now has the ability to match torrents based on tracker URL as well
(by popular request)
* 1.0.1 - The better one
- Fixed a bug where the config file would not be created if it didn’t
already exist. For me, this didn’t really happen, since I already
had one. Sorry, guys.
- There were some missing messages in the Messages file. Added those that
I knew about.
* 1.2.0 – Other things are improved
– The rules are now stored as properties, making it (slightly) easier to
modify them by hand without the UI.
– Autocat no longer overwrites user-selected categories if that is the desired
behaviour ([ACAT-5](http://offby1.no-ip.org:8080/browse/ACAT-5))
## Issue Tracking

Nice plugin this autocat however I got one question/suggestion.
When you catogorize on file? is that on the file you download or .torrent file? It would be cool if you could categorize on the torrent file…
That way I could easily add to this example torrent file borat.torrent
movies somewhere in the torrent file by saving it like that in my autostart dir.
so by renaming borat.torrent to movies_borat.torrent I would like the autocat to detect the movies and add the download to my movies category…
sorry if I sound confusing… feel free to ask via email…

That should be easy enough — I just have to add another matcher.
I’ll see what I can do, and let you know if I release a new version.

dont it already use the .torrent filename to catagorize and not the downloaded file name?
I’ve tried to make a filter where it sould add files named .mp3 to the music category but it do not add the torrent if .mp3 do not appaer in the the .torretn filename but only in the file name
Tried the same with .rar files with same results.
is it because I try to do it by file type and not name? If so it would be nice to be able to cagirize by file type too

It probably does. (checks)… Yep.
Like I mentioned above, I need to add more capabilities to it. The problem is, it got good enough for me really quickly, so I kind of stopped

then maybe you could release the code so someone else could continue the development?
January 30th, 2007 at 10:00 am
I kind of have to, actually — it’s GPL. I was pretty sure the source code was already out, but I might have missed it. Nope, the source code is in the jar file alongside the classes — simply extract the jar and hack away.
The contributions you make to it, if you do so and wish to redistribute them, _must_ be transmitted back to me, as per the license of the code, so that I may optionally include them in the plugin.

Hi
Nice plugin, I love it.
A feature request…
I’d love to keep my unfinished download in one folder, and when completed moved to another folder. is it posible to extend your plugin to support only applying auto-cat to completed torrents ?
April 28th, 2008 at 11:26 pm
That’s an interesting idea; I’ve been neglecting this plugin of late, since I’m not even using it anymore because of some of the automation I’ve ended up doing.
I’ll take it under advisement, though. Feel free to post a feature request on the JIRA (you need to sign up for an account to do so, sadly)

Auto Categorizer not saving – I have the same issues the guys above have. When I restart, all of my categories are gone.

I admit to being an idiot, but could someone please give me an example of a rule for Auto Categorizer? All I want to do is have torrents categorized based on tracker URL. I’m entering the domain as the tracker URL, and it’s not working.

I’m having the same issues – for some reason it’s managed to save just one category, but after a restart, all others are gone.
